Parents have to handle to transition that their baby isn’t a baby anymore and the toddler stage is an awkward one. At the same time a toddler wants independence, they still want to be treated like a baby sometimes and it creates a lot of confusion. Parents don’t know which way to turn! Toddler Learning Toddlers are like a sponge and they learn something everyday, parents sometimes don’t notice. If a parent removes their shoes only to put their socks inside, a toddler will do it too and they’ll do it everyday until they see something different.
Toddlers are very observant! Toddler Games Toddlers love to play and interactive is the best, rolling a ball back and forth, talking about the shape, the color, the texture, the weight and how the ball bounces is a good attention grabber as simple as it seems. Telling a toddler that the world is round, the tires on the car are round just like their little round face may seem a little advanced but toddlers listen. Discovery games, hide and seek, hand and eye coordination games, singing and jumping games are what a toddler wants to play as well as building things. Experimentation with toys and activities is needed because although a toddler is a toddler, each are unique. Toddler Exercise The bottom line is that playing for a toddler is learning and playing is exercise too. Going outside for a little run to chase Mom or Dad to place a big hat on his or her head is the most joyous exercise anyone could ask for. Toddlers love lots of action and keeping them active at this age will ensure the likelihood that a toddler will pick up the habit to keep it. Toddler Social Issues Toddlers should have friends, they should be able to experience other children’s play, other environments and situations. Parents usually frown on taking a toddler to a playgroup because a child may hit, scream, kick, bit or just play rudely, it’s important to let a toddler experience other children to see what kind of reaction he/she will have. Exposing a toddler to the world prepares them for the world, imagine being thirty years old and seeing the world for the first time! Toddler Love One thing that surprises some parents is the fact that toddlers have a love life or that’s what it may seem. Toddlers hold hands, they snuggle and they give kisses. Some toddlers seem to get along with some toddler while it seems there are some toddlers they avoid and adults marvel in laughter. Toddlers do love, they have hearts and because they are sponges, they see adult love sometimes. Don’t be alarmed if a toddler wants to hold hands with a the opposite sex, they’re trying to be affectionate and they mimic what they see. It’s a behavior that’s completely innocent but parents should talk about kissing other toddlers on the mouth just because of the sanitary issues of passing colds from one to another. It’s not easy to be a parent or a toddler and the toddler stage is one of the times when the toddler and the parents will learn simultaneously, when a parent knows what to expect … it will be a little easier.
