Play Time The typical toddler loves to play and playing is learning. Each time a toddler picks up an object they are learning and toddlers love to be educated, even if it seems that a toddler isn’t listening to words rest assured that they are. Adult interaction at playtime is most appreciated, toddlers like to show off and fun bouncing games, playing with blocks, drawing or counting are good activities to share with a toddler. Think of games a toddler can actually participate in like red light green light or leapfrog, count steps taken aloud and have fun.
Food Some toddlers love to eat while others snarl their nose up fiercely refusing to eat. The term ‘healthy choices’ says it all. When a child has choices to choose from Toddler Safety Most toddlers believe they have mastered teeter tottering across the living room floor and they begin to look for other challenges in their environment that could cause serious injury or even death to them which is why childproofing, childproofing and more childproofing is required for toddlers. ‘Toddlerproofing’ is a whole new concept when it comes to ‘what to look for’ because everything is a danger! Chairs, all types of appliances, chemicals, household cleaners, sharp objects, stairs, some toys, window treatments and even the pet potty should be in a safe place. Toddlers are just as curious as tiny babies but they can climb and maneuver odd places to get exactly where they want to be, close supervision is a must at this age. Toddler Tantrums Toddlers have tantrums and they’re not nice tantrums usually! Some may opt to bang their head on the wall or the floor while some simply choose to scream and cry for various reasons. A toddler usually experience a lot of frustration, they want to talk but they don’t have the words yet and the world is so big and bright to them, yet they can’t tell anyone. The best thing to do with a toddler experiencing some stress is to try to help them out, the case may just be that they are tired but communicating with a toddler not only helps them learn but it also helps to keep them feel connected. Curiousness Toddlers love to explore the world around them and you never know what they’ll do next, stay on your tippy toes! Don’t be surprised if a toddler pulls your hair over and over just to hear you scream, they think it’s neat to get a reaction … not just with your hair. A toddler doesn’t know that some things can hurt them; it’s quite normal for toddlers to develop of fascination with animals or things that make loud noises. The world is just one big playground to them!
